Enjoying the Journey

OK, life is too short; I’ll just put it out there.  I know that this isn’t the best way to start a blog post, but wanted that said up front.  The gift of life is ever so precious, but at times taken for granted by each of us.

It is so wonderful to be alive.  Granted, life does come with and does have its challenges, but those challenges keep life extremely interesting.  Most of us were not born with a silver spoon in our mouths; however we do have a roof over our heads, clothes to wear, and food to eat.

We don’t get to choose our family, but we do get to choose with whom we share our lives.  Every choice that we’ve made that has had an impact on our lives, great or small, is a life event that has made us the person that we are today.

Some episodes that have unfolded in our lives have served us well and others, not so much.  Both have had a significant role to play in our development.  I would submit to you that our development will continue until the grave claims us.  Continue to learn and grow from all that life has to offer.

We must accept that there will be good times and the not so good times; it’s a fact of life.  We should enjoy the good times and learn from the not so good times.  We can’t control all of the things that happen in life, but we don’t have to let the negative aspects affect our attitude.  Although the sky may be falling, we don’t have to be emotionally swept away with the situation.

We will have those that encourage us as well as those that may discourage; those that discourage-listen with a critical ear; those that encourage-draw strength from them because you will need it for the journey.

One of the great teachers of in the bible said that whatever circumstance that he found himself in, that he learned to be content.  The only constant in life is change.  If there is a situation that you’re in that you don’t like, give it some time, it will change.

There will be sunshine and rain; laughter and pain.  We can’t control the bad things that happen in life and can’t always influence the good.  We might as well enjoy the journey and make the best of it.

Life is grand; a wonderful gift given to us by God; let’s not waste it on regret, missed opportunities, or self-doubt.  I’ve had mentors to tell me “It is, what it is.”  To that I say accept what is, change what you can, and truly live in the moment.  Enjoy your life because when it’s over, it over; no more will be said, no more will be done-enjoy this journey to the fullest.  Now go forth and do great things.

This has been your 80 seconds of encouragement.
