For the most part, we’ve all had to do jobs that we
were not necessarily excited about, but the work had to get done and we were
the ones to do it. The reasons for
doing task such as these are various, but in light of today’s topic, just because you're doing something that you would rather not, you can still find the joy, fulfillment, purpose in it.
The Apostle Paul, of the bible, stated that
whatsoever state or condition that he found himself in, he was going to be
content. Joy has nothing to do with
financial status, the car you drive, the house you live in or whether you’re an
executive or custodian. It has to do
with your state of mind.
Whatever they type of work you do or material
possessions, it can influence your state of mind, but it does not have the
final word as to your joy. You could
have the worst job known to mankind, but if you have a reason for doing what
you’re doing, it gives even the menial of task purpose. If it’s a stop-gap to help make ends meet
until you can improve your status, then so be it. You can do that job with joy in your heart, a
song on your mind, and a smile on your face.
Always complaining about what you’re doing brings an
added weight to the situation. Not only
are you disgruntled about what you’re doing, but you’re also expending energy
complaining about it. Find your balance,
find your peace and become content with where you are for the moment.
If you don’t like where you are, nothing will happen
until something moves. When you decide
that this is not where you want to be, find the joy in making a plan to change
your lot in life. The work truly comes
first, before you can taste the fruit of success. I’ve said this in previous posts, “Plan your
work, then work your plan.”
I believe that to experience real joy, you must
first find your purpose in life; the reason why you were created and put here
on earth. Finding it then doing it
brings meaning to existing. Even though
you find your reason/purpose, it’s not always going to be peaches and
cream. There is one constant in life and
that is change. We are creatures of
habit; however, we can’t fool ourselves in thinking that this life will come
without its challenges. Change adds its own spice to life. So find your purpose or reason for doing what
you do and capitalize on it and do it with all your heart.
This has been your 80 seconds of encouragement.
