Today is a day of remembering. Memorial Day was created to memorialize deeds
and people for the things that were done for the benefit of this country. It’s good to remember both and celebrate the
selfless acts of those that made this country what it is today.
We tend forget acts of bravery, acts of kindness, and acts
of sacrifice of those that love and care for us. It is good to take the time to remember and
celebrate them. If they are still alive,
then all the better for the celebration; if not, remembering and celebrating
the memory of their life with fellow-loved ones is great.
We also tend to memorialize the not-so-good times in life as
well. So much so until we are stuck in that
mental and/or emotional state and go about living life from that place.
We actually live a life of defeat because we live from a
defeated mindset. Because we’ve failed
at something is no need to exist or wallow in the downfall. Failure is just the starting point of your
next venture. Do not give setbacks more
attention than they deserve. Pinpoint
what went wrong, what you did wrong, their causes and resolve not to make the
same mistakes again.
If one memorializes past failures, defeats, and disappointments
they never have the advantage of starting a new venture on a positive note;
they start from position of a disadvantage.
So put such catastrophes into perspective; learn from the mistakes. Do
not allow them to define you; you can recover from disaster, it’s in your DNA.
If what you did yesterday didn’t kill you, you have today to right your wrong;
you get a do-over.
So remember those that gave the ultimate sacrifice for you
and this country on this Memorial Day. Also remember not to memorialize defeat; it is not your address, it’s not where you live. Go from there and do great things; you are
not alone.
This has been your 80 seconds of encouragement.
