Thankful For The Little Things
The song says “Count your blessings, name them one
by one.” There are big things that
happen in life that we are very grateful for.
Blessings that out of nowhere just blindside us and cause jubilant celebration,
however, at times they can be few and far between.
On the flip side, there are every day occurrences
that we can be thankful for. Sometimes
it’s the small things that bring to and have great meaning in our lives. It may be insignificant to others, but carry
a lot of weight with you.
I’ve recently returned from a military deployment,
and the sacrifices that are made by service members for this country in the
name of freedom are astronomical, but are made willingly and gladly.
I make this observation to make the point of missing
the small things of life that are taken for granted. The old adage of not missing your water until
your well runs dry is so true. We take
things for granted until they are taken away from us or we have to survive
without them for a while.
Today is Friday, May 16, 2014 which we will begin
another weekend. Take time this weekend
and pause for a minute to give God thanks for the little things in life. BTW, you’re not to wait until you’re in
church to do this. It’s an exercise
designed to take place apart from church.
Oh yea, the last part of the song that I opened up with is; “Count your
many blessings, see what God has done. Thank God for the littler things.
This has been your 80 seconds of encouragement.
Have a great weekend
