Balancing Act

There never seems to be enough time in the day to accomplish all the things our busy schedule demands of us. From one extreme to the other is our way of life.  Life is challenging and for some people, it can be more so.  From our spouses, to the children, to work, to church, to leisure, to sleep (which is a luxury), to whatever else we can find room for on our plates.

As we search for the elusive American Dream, we tend to over-burden ourselves with task, chores, assignments, projects, obligations, and any other undertaking that may come our way that is believed to aid in achieving that dream.  We are over worked, over stressed, over tired, working overtime while family and friends are neglected the presence of our company.

This type of life style is not healthy for you or for those you love.  Some wisdom that was given to me a long time ago was that our day is broken down into three segments of eight hours.  The first eight are for work, the next eight are for leisure, and the last eight are for sleeping.  We as a nation or people have gotten far from this.

Although we can get far out of balance, it only requires the will to change, the freedom to change, and a reevaluation of priorities.  For the sake of our families and our own health, change is necessary.  We do what we want to do; we make time for what we want to make time for.  It shouldn’t be a surprise of what life brings us.

God made the world and everything in it in six days and on the Sabbath day He rested.  If we don’t take an active role in ensuring that we get the proper rest, our bodies will assume that role for us.  Our bodies will become fatigue and rebel with high blood pressure, heart attack, stroke, or any other over-use aliment.

It’s amazing to see trends that are not really trends at all, but simple life styles that we’ve gotten away from.  The trend of group exercise, juicing, eating clean, or even eating organic; these are not new, but areas within daily life that are now seriously deficient.

If the Almighty took time to rest after a week of work, so should we.  In our culture we take two days for the weekend; take full advantage of it.  Our time is very precious; after it’s gone, we can never get it back. Be in the moment; be present with family, trust me they'll love you for it.  The older I get the more important family becomes. Live, Laugh, and Love Unapologetically.  Take the time to enjoy yourself, family, and life.

This has been your 80 seconds of encouragement.
